Pesantren

Pesantren is a traditional education that the students lived with and studied under the guidance of a teacher who is better known as kiai and have a place to stay dormitory for students. These students are in a complex that also provides the mosque to worship, spaces to study, and other religious activities. The complex is usually surrounded by a wall in order to supervise the entry and exit of the students in accordance with the applicable legislation. [1]. 


Boarding are two terms that indicate an understanding. Pesantren the meaning is essentially a place of learning of the students, while the cottage means home or simple shelter made of bamboo. In addition, said cabin may be derived from the Arabic Funduq that means a hostel or hotel. In Java, including Sundanese and Madurese commonly used terms lodge and boarding school, were in Aceh is known as term dayah or rangkang or menuasa, whereas in Minangkabau called the mosque. 

Pesantren can also be understood as an educational institution and teaching religion, generally by way nonklasikal, where a kiai Islam teaches science to santri based on the books written in Arabic by a medieval scholar, and his students typically stayed in the lodge (dormitory) in the boarding school.
